Can you share an example of successfully leading a diverse team and achieving project goals?

In my role as the Global Head of Talent Acquisition at Takeda, I have the privilege of leading a diverse and highly skilled Talent Acquisition and Employer Branding team.

Together, we are responsible for developing and executing comprehensive recruitment, attraction, and employer branding strategies.

Our primary mission is to attract top-tier talent from a wide range of backgrounds while simultaneously strengthening Takeda's employer brand.

To achieve our project goals, we place a strong emphasis on creating an inclusive work culture that fostered innovation and collaboration.

As a result, we not only successfully attract a diverse pool of candidates but also significantly enhance Takeda's reputation as an employer of choice in the industry.

How do you ensure your teams align with Takeda's goals?

Aligning teams with Takeda's goals involves clear communication, setting strategic objectives, and regular check-ins.

We are a large, matrixed organization so collaboration and building awareness are incredibly important to our overall success.

Takeda’s values are brought to life through something we refer to as ‘P-T-R-B.’ We put a patient at the center of everything we do.

If it’s good for the patient, we then ask ourselves if our actions are helping to build trust with society and enhance Takeda’s Reputation.

Provided we can speak affirmatively about the first three, we know good Business results will follow. Across Takeda, no matter the department, we all follow PTRB; it unites us and fosters a sense of purpose in our work.

Describe a strategic decision you made that influenced a project's direction.

For me, it’s less about decisions and more about an approach. We all have opinions on what we believe is the ‘best path forward’ but those opinions are often bespoke and not reflective of a situation or a particular working environment.

By leading with data – both qualitative and quantitative – the ‘best’ path often reveals itself, and it’s not always what I would have wanted or decided to pursue if I had been asked to make a decision independently of that information.

How do you foster a positive work culture and mentor team members?

Fostering a positive work culture is vital for the success of any team, and I believe that comes from the personal relationship you have with each member of the team. We spend a lot of time at work, but ‘what we do’ is only a small piece of who we are.

I want to understand who people are outside of work because it speaks a lot to their motivations at work, and I find it helps me figure out better ways to work with each of them. In my team, we all genuinely like each other – we share personal and professional accomplishments and failures, we listen and encourage each other.

We are authentic with each other and aim to operate from a place of transparency.

Share a complex project you led and your impact on its execution and outcomes.

During my tenure as the Head of Global Talent Acquisition Branding & Marketing for our Global Manufacturing Supply Chain and Quality teams, I orchestrated the establishment of a targeted Employment Value Proposition (EVP) for the Global Manufacturing Supply Chain and Quality team.

This project involved cross-functional collaboration and intricate market research. As a result of this initiative, we not only attracted top talents but also improved employer perception, significantly impacting our talent acquisition outcomes.
