Describe an experience where you navigated diverse roles at Takeda. How did it broaden your skills?
Before Takeda, I spent 13 years working for major operators in the oil and gas industry, covering different engineering roles in multiple countries.
I joined Takeda in 2020, which was an extremely rich experience. Moving from a completely different industry to lead maintenance & reliability for the small molecule operating unit was quite a change.
Luckily, I had support from colleagues and leaders who helped me to get a better understanding of the business and performance objectives and to get an opportunity to influence and deliver world-class transformation programs.
In 2022, I stepped in to lead the global maintenance for GMS and work across different operating units and regions. This was a great opportunity to broaden my expertise beyond small molecules and to leverage my expertise and multicultural exposure to lead change at scale.
I also had the opportunity to travel and learn from colleagues around the world.
How do you show resilience and adaptability in Takeda's dynamic environment?
In Takeda's dynamic environment, I demonstrate resilience by maintaining a positive mindset and embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. I am able to bounce back from setbacks and remain focused on achieving my goals.
Additionally, I am adaptable by being open to change and quickly adjusting my approach when necessary. I actively seek feedback and continuously learn from my experiences, allowing me to adapt to new situations and contribute effectively to the organization.
Share an example of moving between functions at Takeda. What skills did you gain or transfer?
At Takeda, I had the opportunity to change roles, specifically from small molecule engineering to lead global maintenance in asset management & sustainability for GMS. This transition allowed me to gain a diverse set of skills and transfer them effectively.
In small molecule engineering, I developed strong change management skills and I was very close to the sites which gave me clear insights into technical challenges on the shop floor.
When I moved to global asset management, I was able to transfer my technical and change management expertise. My previous expertise in oil and gas helped to bring cold-eye insights into my role and adopt effective practices from a different industry.
This transition between functions at Takeda allowed me to broaden my skill set, adapt to different roles, and bring a unique perspective.
Can you highlight a project where your role exploration directly benefited Takeda?
Shutdown optimization must win in 2023: Identified opportunities at the sites where Takeda could assure uninterrupted supply to patients while optimizing the cost of goods sold.
During the project, I had an opportunity to lead multi-functional workshops, uncover opportunities and draw consensus on potential and practical solutions for implementation.
How do you collaborate with colleagues from various areas to drive innovation at Takeda?
To drive innovation at Takeda, I collaborate with colleagues from various areas by fostering an environment of open communication and mutual respect. I actively seek opportunities to engage with colleagues from different departments, such as cross-functional projects, a center of excellence and a community of practices.
I believe that innovation thrives when diverse perspectives are brought together. Therefore, I make an effort to listen to my colleagues' ideas and opinions, valuing their expertise and insights.
I understand the importance of teamwork in driving innovation. I actively participate in cross-functional teams, leveraging the strengths and expertise of each team member. By fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment, we can combine our knowledge and skills to develop creative solutions that address complex challenges.
I believe that a shared vision is crucial for driving innovation. I work closely with colleagues to align our goals and objectives, ensuring that we are all working towards Takeda's purpose - better health for people and a brighter future for the world. By establishing clear objectives and maintaining open lines of communication, we can effectively collaborate and drive innovation at Takeda.
