Inclusive Culture Shines Bright

For the seventh consecutive year, Takeda earned a perfect score on the Human Rights Campaign's (HRC) Corporate Equality Index (CEI) and is proud to be named as one of the 2023 Best Places to Work for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender & Queer (LGBTQ+) Equality.

“We are thrilled to again receive this recognition. It is a distinctive honor for Takeda that speaks volumes,” shared Crysta Dungee, Head of U.S. Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

" This award looks at the specific actions, policies, procedures and benefits that we invested in over the years to create a more equitable experience for our employees. We strive to put people first and it’s rewarding to know that our efforts are being acknowledged. "

Hear more from our people

Takeda is committed to creating a culture where everyone feels included, heard and welcome — from benefits to corporate social responsibility to workforce protections. So, what does it take to be recognized by the HRC? Companies must demonstrate that its policies and practices are designed to create diversity, equity and inclusion for LGBTQ+ employees. At Takeda, this is evidenced by, but is not limited to, our:

  • Equal Employment Opportunity Statement
  • EEO Policy/Non-Discrimination
  • U.S. Employee Policy Manual
  • Inclusive benefits supporting LGBTQ + community
  • Take Pride Takeda Resource Group (TRG) and sponsored activities throughout 2023

In 2023, specifically, this recognition by the HRC truly reflects the outstanding collaboration across our Take Pride Takeda Resource Group, the U.S. Benefits Team, the U.S. People Advisory Group and our collective U.S.-wide DE&I efforts.

Take Pride, one of 11 Takeda Resource Groups (TRGs) in the U.S., was a catalyst — and a visible and accessible resource for all Takeda employees, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity — to ensure that Takeda’s LGBTQ+ employees and allies feel safe, respected and supported. Each year, Take Pride offers events, webinars and activities for not only its 700-plus members, but also to engage employees across the company.

“The criteria for earning a perfect 100 has evolved over the years to advance best practices for LGBTQ+ workplace inclusion that should be expected of all large employers. The HRC CEI is a much more rigorous process, and earning a perfect score is much more challenging today than it was 7 years ago,” said Jon Mason, one of the co-leads of Take Pride.

"Takeda has continuously examined our policies, procedures and follow-through to ensure we are leading the way in creating a welcoming, safe, and inclusive work environment for all. This achievement reflects the care we take to embrace our LGBTQ+ colleagues and our allies. "

“We’re proud of how Take Pride supported our effort to scoring 100 percent on the HRC Corporate Equality Index and, overall, in 2023 to raise awareness, impact our community and strengthen our talent pipeline. We’re looking forward to being a more-visible resource and building on that momentum in 2024 ” said Eric Chebator, the other co-lead for Take Pride.

"Every year, the level of collaboration and support  we experience to foster inclusion for our LGBTQ+ employees and allies gets better and better."
