The Opportunity

As the Head of Takeda’s Japan Innovation Capability Center, you will be responsible for:

  • Recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and retaining a high-performing, collaborative team.
  • Delivering technology solutions from the Takeda Japan Innovation Centre to support various Business Units/Functions (BU/BF) in Japan, including the Japan Business Unit, R&D Japan Business Unit, Japan Corporate Functions (HR, TBS, Global Finance, GREFP, Ethics and Compliance, Legal and Corporate Affairs), and Japan GMS/GQ.
  • Building, operationalizing, and running a highly utilized capability center function through partnerships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advocating for and championing the center’s capabilities, services, and technologies.
  • Establishing and overseeing objectives and key results (OKRs), processes, and digital accelerators to deliver and measure value for Takeda.
  • Building and maintaining Takeda’s brand reputation in the Japan market as a digital and data-driven biotechnology company.

Responsibilities 

  • Provide leadership and implement strategic direction and goals for the center.
  • Lead, develop and empower an efficient, effective, and agile Capability Center team to deliver exceptional capabilities and services for the Global Data and Digital organization across the value chain.
  • Drive a consistent and positive user experience, embedding a Digital and Agile mindset and culture throughout the transformation journey.
  • Ensure effective Teamwork and collaboration both within Takeda and with any 3rd party outsourced provider, and with all interfacing functions in country or where required globally including Internal Global GDD&T Finance, Corporate Affairs, Compliance and Legal.
  • Enhance career experiences in country / region and build next generation technology capabilities to enable today’s and future organizational strategic objectives.
  • Act as a Transformation Lead for the site and for the broader region.
  • Act as the senior representative for not just the TJIC, but also for all other GDD&T functions in Japan, and play a leading role in the Japan Digital Leadership Committee.

Key Delivery Capabilities Duties

  • Oversee service delivery and the day-to-day operations of the capability center, ensuring that all standards are met, and procedures are followed
  • Define and ensure the implementation of Service Level Agreements (SLA’s); sets standards for quality and ensures that operational activities are implemented in accordance with the established standards.
  • Review and monitor key performance OKRs at the capability center e.g., staff utilization, SLA adherence and make adjustments to perform at utilization targets.
  • Establish quality control mechanisms such as business, periodic quality assurance reviews etc.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Desirable: Master’s in Business Administration
  • Required: Bachelor’s degree in related technical field
  • High degree of  integrity,  confidence and self-awareness
  • Confident and persuasive with strong influencing skills; able to win internal support for new ideas and initiatives
  • Appreciates, understands and effectively negotiates within and across other cultures
  • Customer centric and solutions orientated aptitude with demonstrable experience in providing solutions based on customer needs
  • Interpersonal Skills: Good people leadership and management skills (e.g. energetic, visionary, motivational, resilient & highly driven individual who thrives on professional challenges)
  • Strong negotiation & interpersonal skills (e.g. tact/diplomacy, persuasion, cooperation, ability to motivate others)
  • Experienced in handling sensitive and confidential issues/ situations and cultural sensitivities

Physical Demands

  • Flexibility in working hours due to global nature (different time-zones) and demands of the role and the organization
  • Travel requirements: Flexibility to travel (~20 - 30%).

Takeda Compensation and Benefits Summary:

  • Allowances: Commutation, Housing, Overtime Work etc.

  • Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year

  • Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45

  • Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
